Historical Centre or the Old Town of Tukums (T9) includes Harmonijas, Dārza, Zirgu, Jaunā, Talsu and
Lielā streets. The historical centre got its current layout during the time
period from the 14th till 18th century, but in the 19th
century and at the beginning of the 20th century, its visual image
was formed, which is characteristic for the town also at the current time.
Here, you can see many age-old, little reconstructed log-style residential and
auxiliary buildings. Also the layout of the former constructions has remained
unchanged. Walk around the old town, see the doors with luxurious wood-carved
ornaments, hand-made by carpenters and blacksmiths. During the summer of 2002,
the historical cobblestone surfacing was renovated in this part of the town and
street lighting lanterns arranged.
