For more than 600 years
Brīvības (Liberty) Square (T1)
has served in a
capacity of the Market Square,
where farmers from near and far came to trade, along with fishermen from the
nearby seaside villages, as well as the local craftsmen. However, until year 1990, as it was generally supposed to be, the
central square of the city was the host of Lenin’s monument. Nowadays, the
square is arranged with benches, splendid flower beds and a water fountain. It
is definitely the place to start your trip around Tukums.
